Ngurra – Walking Together
Jason Lockyer
In the red heart of the Pilbara, two ancestral spirits walk side by side—each carrying the strength of their roles and the spirit of those before them.
The man holds a spear, symbol of protection, lore, and leadership. The woman carries a traditional bag, holding stories, bush medicines, and the wisdom of nurturing life.
They walk within the swirling reds and oranges of songlines—ancestral paths connecting people, story, and Country. At the centre is Ngurra—home, identity, and belonging.
This painting is a reminder that men and women carry culture forward together—guided by the land and grounded in the power of Country.
