My name is Janine Samson. I am Ngarluma and Banjima. I paint about the colours of my country, the Ngarluma lands of the saltwater people. I also paint about the rivers and streams and the pretty rocks that lie in the riverbeds and shine when the rivers run. I am married to Gavin Snook, who is also an artist. We have five children, and we like to go out bush to hunt and to tell our children stories about our land, so they can learn about our land and culture. We go there with our Elders who also help to teach our children about our culture and our beautiful Ngarluma land

Independent Artists

Janine Samson is an independent artist – not formally aligned with a specific art centre, and whose stories, personal histories and talents are shared through creative illustration on canvas. Independent artists bring a diverse array of styles, techniques and cultural expressions to the exhibition.
